Northumberland County is an hour east of Toronto along Ontario’s major highway, the 401. There is also easy access to Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal by Via Rail Train. The local bus system is a good way to get around Cobourg and get to and from Port Hope. In Northumberland County’s other small communities you can drive, take a taxi, or cycle.

By Bus

Cobourg Buses

Cobourg has a planned route service. Schedules with route maps are available in Victoria Hall, on the bus, WalMart and the Library.

Fares are $2.00 per one way trip (preschool children ride free).

Tickets may also be purchased for $16.00/10 in Victoria Hall and in the Lotto Centre, in Zellers at Northumberland Mall, and the Library.

Cobourg - Port Hope Shuttle

The bus from Port Hope arrives every hour at 10 minutes past the hour at Northumberland Mall, you can transfer to a Cobourg bus for $1.00 or ride Port Hope bus to the Hospital. The bus then goes back to Port Hope.

Port Hope riders can get on the shuttle at Port Hope Town Hall (56 Queen Street) every hour on the hour during business hours.

At the mall every hour 10 minutes past the hour from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm (last shuttle - 8:10 pm)

At the mall every hour 10 minutes past the hour from 9:00 am to 5:00 (last shuttle - 4:10 pm)
No shuttle service on Sundays or holidays

By Train

Since the Via Rail train station is located in Cobourg this is the easiest way to travel to other centres in Ontario, and also across Canada. The Cobourg train station is located at 563 Division Street.
