  • 2 Provincial Parks

Four-Season Trails

The many hiking and cycling trails offer spectacular vistas of fields, lakes and hills all year round.

Incredible Fishing

The Ganaraska River in Port Hope is perfect for fly fishing for salmon or trout. Rice Lake and Lake Ontario are also famous for fishing with prize catches of bass, walleye and muskellunge. Brighton Bay and Rice Lake are known for winter ice fishing.

Outdoor FunGanaraska Forest Centre

The Ganaraska Forest Centre is a multi-use facility located in the heart of the majestic, 11,000-acre Ganaraska Forest. Used primarily as a venue for outdoor education programs for children, the centre can also be used for corporate training, weddings, and other social functions.

The forest centre hosts the Oak Ridges Moraine Information Centre, an extensive taxidermy collection of native animal and bird species, a full commercial kitchen, large banquet-style Great Hall and several break-out classrooms. The centre also features a camping area, picnic shelter and fire pit, as well as dormitory-style rooms for up to 80 guests and two specialty suites for chaperones or wedding parties.

There are numerous public events throughout the year, including Maple Syrup Day, Cross-Country Ski Day, Hallowe'en Howl, Owl Prowl, and guided hikes. In summer months, if you're interested in guided trail riding please contact Maple Crescent Farm

The Ganaraska Forest itself features hundreds of kilometres of year-round recreational trails for any outdoor sporting pursuit. With the purchase of a day pass or annual membership, visitors can participate in horseback riding, mountain biking, off-road vehicle riding, hiking, hunting, Treetop Trekking and cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Download the map and directions to the Ganaraska Forest Centre.
